Most IT resellers quote first and sort out compliance later, if the buyer asks. For federal, state and local buyers that order is backwards. A non-compliant product does not just risk the award; it can put a contracting officer in a bad position after the fact. So at Acronox the compliance pass runs before the quote, on every solicitation, every time.
What we check on every goods order
Country of origin. If your solicitation carries the Trade Agreements clause (FAR 52.225-5 or DFARS 252.225-7021), the product must be made or substantially transformed in the United States or a designated country. If it carries Buy American instead, the test is different and stricter for some items. We read the clause list first, then confirm origin from the manufacturer’s own data and the distributor’s product record, not from a guess.
Covered technology. Section 889 bans certain telecom and video surveillance brands and their affiliates, including white-label cameras and recorders that hide the original maker. We also screen for Kaspersky, active FASCSA orders and covered drones. If a line item is on a list, we tell you and propose a compliant alternative rather than quoting it anyway.
Authorized source. Everything we sell comes from the manufacturer or its authorized distributor. No brokers, no marketplace sellers, no “new in open box.” That is how you get full manufacturer warranty, and it is how we meet counterfeit-avoidance clauses on DoD electronics.
The extras, when the solicitation triggers them. Nonmanufacturer rule on larger set-asides, IUID marking on higher-value DoD items, Section 508 accessibility reports, EPEAT and ENERGY STAR registration, and the state-level certifications that Texas and Illinois buyers require.
Why we bother
Our founder spent his career in IT audit. The habit of looking up the rule, documenting the evidence and keeping the paper trail is not a sales add-on for us; it is how we work. For every award we keep the manufacturer authorization, the distributor quote, the purchase order, proof of delivery and the compliance evidence together, so if anyone asks a year later, the answer is a folder, not a scramble.
What this means for you
You get a quote you can rely on, with origin and compliance notes attached, and no surprises at delivery or audit. If we cannot source a compliant item through an authorized channel, we say so early instead of bidding and hoping.
